Make Your Bed

From the words of US Navy Admiral William H. McRaven (2018), “If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day, it will give you a small sense of pride, and encourage you to do another task, and another, and another.” Each time you are successful at something, it makes you more confident in your ability to do more. He also points out that, “The little things in life matter, and if you can’t do the little things right, you won’t be able to do the big things right.” This can be applied to any goal that you set for yourself, including goals about your health. Admiral McRaven goes on to talk about the importance of having help – change is hard to do alone. You need help and support. Who can you count on in your life to help you achieve your goals? Who will walk with you? Who will help you make good choices? Surround yourself with people you want on your team. And, listen to the rest of his inspiring speech.
