DOT Physicals

Dr. Yvonne Joy is a Certified Medical Examiner and is now offering DOT physicals in the office or on-site at your business. We want to help ensure the safety of the public and your drivers on our roadways. Safety begins with you and your employees.

For DOT physicals, the process is easy to follow:

  1. Complete the Information and History section of the Medical Exam Report form
  2. Bring the following items with you:
    • Your most recent medical card (certificate)
    • Your glasses and contacts
    • Your hearing aid(s) if needed for hearing
    • A list of all your current medications and who prescribes them
    • A letter from the treating clinician for your medications
    • Medical records for conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea
  1. Do not do the following things before the exam:
    • Do not smoke for at least 1 hour before the exam
    • Do not drink caffeine at least 2 hours before the exam
  2. What to expect:
    • You will be asked about your medical history
    • You will be asked to provide a urine specimen (drink water before you arrive)
    • You will be asked to change into a gown
    • We will check your vision, hearing, reflexes, heart, lungs, etc.
    • We will give you the results of the exam at the end of the visit
    • If you would like a copy of the report sent to your employer, please sign a release

Routine primary care is defined as care provided for acute and chronic medical conditions that are not of an emergent nature. Acute conditions that we treat include ear infections, strep throat, pink eye, sinus infections, cough/colds, reflux/heartburn, urinary tract infections, and sexually transmitted infections. Chronic medical conditions that we treat include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, thyroid diseases, asthma, COPD, allergies, eczema, psoriasis, arthritis, obesity, anxiety, and depression. We also assist with smoking cessation. Additionally, we provide routine gynecological care including Pap smears, birth control prescriptions, and breast cancer screenings.
