Get Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

In Luvvie Ajayi’s 2018 inspiring TEDtalk, we learn that it is important to speak up and do things that really matter – “Be a domino,” she says, “With the hope that others will follow suit.” I encourage you to speak up for yourself, your family members, your friends, your customers, and those who feel marginalized.  It can be an uncomfortable feeling, maybe even mixed in with some fear, but don’t let this stop you from saying and doing your purpose.  Don’t let fear, worry, anxiety, depression rule your life.  These are uncomfortable feelings that can hold you back or propel you forward, and once you crash through that barrier, you will be comfortable with being uncomfortable.  In 2015, Luvvie embraced a “Do it anyway” philosophy and pursued activities that made her uncomfortable – ziplining high above the ground, swimming in the ocean with dolphins, skydiving, and writing her book, I’m Judging You: The Do-Better Manual.  And in the moments afterward, she realized that she made some of the best decisions by going into that uncomfortable place.  Push yourself to be better, and push others to be better.  If you need a push, let me know – I am happy to push anyone out of a plane!
